A coffee roaster mid-batch with beans in the cooling tray
Bend, Oregon · Roasted Weekly

Coffee roasted the week you drink it.

We roast twice a week in small batches and sell what we roast. Nothing sits. If a bag is on our shelf it left the roaster in the last seven days.

Roasted Weekly Single Origin Open 7 Days

Fernwood Coffee Roasters is a local business serving Bend, Redmond and Sisters. Services include ethiopia — guji, colombia — huila, sumatra — lintong. The business has operated since 2019. Small-batch coffee roasted in Bend, Oregon. Contact (541) 555-0119.

How We Work

Three decisions that make the coffee better.

Roasted twice a week

Tuesday and Friday. We roast to the week's orders rather than building a warehouse of stale inventory.

One origin at a time

We buy a single lot until it runs out, then move on. It means the menu changes; it also means we know the coffee.

Bought direct where we can

Six of our current eight lots come from importers who publish what the farmer was paid. We list it on the bag.

On the Shelf

What's roasting right now.

The list changes as lots run out. Whole bean and ground, 12 oz bags.

A bag of Ethiopian Guji coffee beans

Ethiopia — Guji

Washed. Bright and floral, with a clean finish. The one to try if you drink it black.

$21 / 12 oz
A bag of Colombian Huila coffee beans

Colombia — Huila

Washed. Round and sweet, holds up to milk. Our steadiest seller and the house espresso.

$18 / 12 oz
A bag of Sumatran Lintong coffee beans

Sumatra — Lintong

Wet-hulled. Heavy body, low acidity, earthy. Divisive on purpose.

$19 / 12 oz

The Shop

One roaster, one room, two people.

Fernwood started in 2019 in a garage on the west side and moved to Galveston Avenue two years later. The roaster is in the same room as the counter, which is either the best or worst part depending on how you feel about noise.

We are open seven days. If you want to know what is in the hopper, ask whoever is at the counter — they roasted it.

  • Roasted Tuesday and Friday
  • Whole bean or ground to order
  • Wholesale for local cafés
  • Farmer payment listed on every bag
Reviews

What drinkers say.

“Roast date on every bag, and it is never more than a few days back. You can taste the difference that makes.”
Erin S.Subscriber, Bend
“Their Kenya lot converted my pour-over skeptic husband. We are two bags a month now.”
Laurel D.Monthly subscription
“Asked a grinder question at the counter and got a genuinely useful answer, not a lecture.”

Questions

Asked at the counter most days.

Do you ship?
Within Oregon, yes — flat $6, and it goes out the day after the next roast. Outside Oregon we are not set up for it yet.
Can you grind it for me?
Yes, and we would rather you told us your brewer than picked a setting from a chart. Whole bean keeps better if you have a grinder.
Do you do wholesale?
For cafés and restaurants in Deschutes County. Email us and we will send current pricing and a sample.

Come by while it's still warm.
